Rare Plant Surveys

MNR has built a strong reputation for finding and documenting rare flora over the past decade, particularly in Minnesota. Our botanists are qualified by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to conduct rare plant surveys, and are additionally approved to survey for specific species including moonworts & grapeferns (Botrychium & Sceptridium), Prairie Bush Clover (Lespedeza leptostachya), Dwarf Trout Lily (Erythronium propullans), and Western Prairie Fringed Orchid (Platanthera praeclara). MNR additionally offers the unique ability to conduct lichen and bryophyte surveys.

Our team works across diverse ecosystems including prairie, wetland, and forest communities. MNR’s simple approach of thorough due diligence performed by highly-qualified field personnel has yielded excellent results. To date, our company has successfully documented over 800 populations of rare vascular plants. Successful location and documentation of botanical resources began with MNR’s very first project and continues today.
